Shortstop Rachel Rooney made it officially official with EMCC Tuesday morning.
“I’ve enjoyed the softball environment at Tupelo,” said Rooney. “I look forward to the opportunity of playing on the next level especially with the Lady Lions.”
The Lady Wave standout, who participated in the 2014 Slow-Pitch Softball All-Game in November, will continue her fast-pitch career in Scooba, Mississippi.
At Tupelo, Rooney hit .355 with one home run and 40 RBIs through three seasons. Rooney played her junior and senior seasons under THS head coach Josh Hegwood.
“It was an honor to coach a player like Rachel,” said Hegwood. “As a coach you want players that are difference makers, and Rachel is easily one of those. She is a key part to Tupelo softball moving forward for years to come.”
EMCC softball, under third-year head coach Kyndall White, will kickoff their spring season February 10th. White played softball at Auburn University.
