Review, Preview, and Blankets of the Week (December 8)

FOOTBALL: What a season. Tupelo lost a 14-7  battle with Oak Grove in last Friday’s MHSAA 6A championship. The Golden Wave held the high-powered Warrior offense scoreless at the half. Turnovers and a controversial trick field goal hurt Tupelo’s chances to take the lead. The defense held Oak Grove to a season-low 14 points in the loss. 28 Tupelo seniors played in their final game at Mississippi Veterans Memorial Stadium. Trent Hammond and his staff will return to the field in the spring.

BASKETBALL: Friday’s game at Oxford was postponed last week due to both schools participating in football. The boys lost a close game to Corinth Saturday in the Baldywn Shootout. Both teams will host Booneville Monday, travel to West Point Friday, and play in the CrossTown Challenge at the Bancorpsouth Arena Saturday (girls face Belmont at 4:15, boys battle Sumter Central, Alabama at 7:45). Saturday’s Tupelo games will broadcast LIVE at

SOCCER: Both squads had weekend matches in Jackson cancelled due to inclement weather. Both teams will travel to Grenada Tuesday and host Hernando Friday.

BOWLING: Ms. Dudley’s teams will host Pontotoc at Rebelanes Thursday at 4.
