Review, Preview, and Blankets of the Week (December 15)

BASKETBALL: Lady Wave basketball (9-0) continued their undefeated streak with dominate wins over Booneville, West Point, and Belmont last week. The Golden Wave (5-4) beat Booneville and Sumter Central (AL) but lost to West Point for the second time this season. Both squads will travel to Pontotoc Friday.

SOCCER: Lady Wave soccer (7-0, 2-0) remains undefeated with division wins over Grenada and Hernando last week. Golden Wave soccer (5-0-1, 2-0) is unbeaten with two weeks last week, too. Both teams will travel to West Jones High Friday to make up tournament games from two weeks ago.

BOWLING: Girls (2-1) defeated Pontotoc 8-0 while the boys (3-1) defeated Pontotoc 8-0 and TCPS 7-1. Girls will host East Union Tuesday at Rebelanes at 4 p.m., and boys return to the lanes when they host the Tupelo Holiday Tournament Saturday, December 21st.

CHEER: THS coed won their third-straight Small Varsity Coed state title yesterday in Jackson. Kama Alford’s squad will compete at Nationals February 8th in Orlando, FL.



  • Junior guard Jaleigha Polk averaged 17 points and four steals last week. She had a season-high 24 points and MVP versus Belmont in the CrossTown Challenge. Senior guard Bre Jernigan had 16 assists and 15 steals last week. She also had and zero turnovers in 28 minutes against Belmont.
  • Junior forward Marquise Rivera had three goals against Grenada (1) and Hernando (2) last week.
  • Junior Addison Gable stepped her game up and bowled her highest series, 566 (157, 199, 210) of the season against Pontotoc. Eli McCaleb, Dalton Tudor, and Drew Tuberville worked together to beat TCPS. After a slow start, they refocused to win games 2, 3, and total pins.
  • All THS coed seniors were recognized for their third-straight state championship.
