Bre Thompson only ran one year with Tupelo cross country but she impacted her team and the entire program.
Thompson signed with the University of North Alabama women’s cross country team Friday in the Media Center. She placed 15th overall in 6A and 1st for THS in this year’s state final in Clinton. She also placed 2nd overall in the 2015 New Albany Southern Tees Meet, and 22nd overall at the 2015 Nike Feet Coach Wood Invitation in Gainesville, Florida.
“Cross country has changed my life for the better,” said Thompson. “It has brought me responsibility, discipline, and most importantly, new friendships. I have met so many great people that will hold a very special place in my heart.”
The University of Northern Alabama is located in Florence, Alabama, and is the state’s oldest four-year public university. The women’s program finished 7th at the 2015 NCAA D-II South Regional Championships last weekend.
Since 1993, Tupelo XC boys and girls have accounted for a school-record 33 state championships.
“I can’t wait to see what the rest of my running career holds for me at UNA,” said Thompson.
