Tupelo continues its tradition to pump soccer signees on to the next level.
Lauren Kate Carter, Chase Huddleston, and Liza Wise decided on their colleges of choice Tuesday. Carter and Wise inked with the Mississippi College Lady Choctaws while Huddleston continued the Tupelo-Fulton connection with the Itawamba Community College men’s program.
Lauren Kate Carter, a four-year varsity letterman, will look to play midfielder for the Lady Choctaws in Clinton. Carter is the recipient of this year’s Wendy’s High School Heisman for Tupelo High and a finalist for Mississippi. She also led the Lady Wave with nine goals in 2014-2015.
Chase Huddleston will be Tupelo head coach Harris Faucette’s 11th signee in the last 13 months. He looks to fill the position of attacking center midfielder for Mike Sullivan’s men’s soccer squad at ICC. This is Huddleston’s first year with the Wave, but he has many accomplishments as a club soccer athlete. He has participated in the Olympic Development Program since 2010 as well as the National Premier League which consists of the top 32 teams in the country.
Liza Wise will join Carter at Mississippi College. Wise, a center back selected to February 13th’s Mississippi Association of Coaches All-Star game at Clinton High, was a 1st Team honoree on last season’s Clarion-Ledger Best of MS Preps and Daily Journal soccer lists. She was also chosen Lady Wave Defensive Player of the Year three-straight years by her team.
